Biography

Prof Darwish is a lecturer in civil engineering at the University of Greater Manchester, UK, where he has delivered undergraduate and postgraduate modules in business management, strategic management, environmental management, aeronautical engineering, artificial intelligence, and mechanical engineering. In addition, he is a professor and program leader at Excelia Group, La Rochelle Business School, France, where he has been teaching strategic management tools and techniques, international strategic management, and production management since 2014.

With extensive experience in research supervision, Prof Darwish has successfully supervised 12 PhD candidates, over 42 master’s dissertations, and a similar number of undergraduate dissertations. He is currently supervising 15 PhD students and serves as both an internal and external examiner. His primary research interests include renewable energy, wind energy system design and management, strategic management, artificial intelligence applications, and environmental management.

Prof Darwish holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the Engineering College in Baghdad, Iraq, a Master’s Membership in Aeronautics from Cranfield Institute of Technology, UK, and a PhD in Aeronautics from the University of Reading, UK. He also holds multiple diplomas in business, environmental, and quality management, along with a PGCE (Teaching Qualification) from Huddersfield University, UK. With over 32 years of practical experience in aerodynamics, he has been instrumental in developing and managing various mechanical and environmental engineering laboratories.

A recognized leader in renewable energy, Prof Darwish serves as Chairman of the Wind Energy Committee within the steering committee of the World Renewable Energy Network (WREN), UK. He has designed and built a multi-bladed wind turbine for student experimental research and has developed several mechanical, aeronautical, and renewable energy laboratories.

Beyond academia, Prof Darwish has organized and attended conferences, seminars, and workshops focused on renewable energy and sustainable development. He is a co-editor and reviewer for academic journals and booksand frequently participates as an invited panelist in industry discussions and Q&A sessions.

Prof Darwish has published over 100 research papers and contributed chapters to three books, reinforcing his reputation as a leading expert in renewable energy, aerodynamics, and strategic management.
